Madden Mischief

Today is my birthday, but please don’t ask me how old I am as it won’t make me happy.

Don’t even think of counting the candles as I stopped with them surrounding my birthday cakes decades ago and causing everyone heatstroke. Now I put only one just for some light.

So, know that I behave, think and act way younger than the numbers would imply.  And I believe that at the rate I’m going, it will be an eternity before I die.  

In many ways I’m still in my 30s and 40s, still working hard as ever and keeping fit as what my dad used to play in concert halls and fancy hotels, a fiddle.

Yes, age is just a number, and in my case it’s misleading and meaningless, not to mention signifying nothing. 

Just try to keep up with me every morning as I walk briskly on the beach. 

See if you can do as many pushups as I religiously perform daily in the sand, why some young girls in my condo call me “the pushup guy.”   

See how young, happy and content the passionate love of my life is, my much younger, beautiful Brazilian wife, Rita, and why she says I couldn’t be any sweeta!

Yes, it’s my birthday today, but I don’t want another one for two years and then the one after that in five years.

These birthdays keep hatching much too fast, especially for an ageless guy like me who belongs forever cast . . . in a leading role . . . in that never ending play called LIFE!

I aim to hold my ground, and stick around and never, ever run out of birthdays.

But I just may need to spread them out more, so the number doesn’t pigeonhole me as old. Meanwhile I’ll be pumping out hype in a personal PR campaign for a record-long LIFE.

Tom Madden has a thing about aging and thinks birthday numbers can be very misleading, especially his own.  Regardless of the number, he still thinks he’s much younger than the number suggests.  So, if you see him around today on Oct. 5, just wish him to stay happy. If you want to see how active he still is, just ask him and he’ll gladly do a few pushups.
