Lifeguard Says AI Enables Us to Swim Further Out, But Be Careful, Don’t Drown!

What is the canary in the cognitive coal mine telling us now that we’ve entered the Age of AI?

Not too long ago, we saw GPT-3’s ability to complete our thoughts.  Then many started using ChatGPT for emails and reports and who knows what’s next?

Now some human minds are even starting to outsource their thinking process.

Will AI Revolutionize Media Like the Model T Ford revolutionized horse and buggy transportation?

Planetary Lifeguard says for us humans not to worry as artificial intelligence (AI) will revolutionize life for the better just like the Model T did, but he warns us to be careful and to take control over AI before it takes control over all of us humans.

He says we’re to view AI as not just another component or helpful aid, but as one having intoxicating capability with its sleek, super serendipitous, surreal technological power.

Though still just a collection of chips, AI is designed to be more sublimely of service to our daily needs while conveying us infinitely further, not to mention supersonically faster!

We must see AI not just as a complement, but as an extension, an enhancement that expands human judgement, but hopefully won’t replace what’s so deeply burrowed inside of us, our human and moral compass, that innate awareness gifted to us from on high.

What I like most about AI is it will be the fastest predictive tool in the med-tech toolkit enabling early detection of the next virus before it springs into a full-blown pandemic.

AI’s influence on media and communications also will be a banner headline.

Already we are seeing media industry layoffs as more and more jobs and techniques are rendered redundant by artificial intelligence.

Media outlets will become more hybridized and digitally focused, opting for more automation and algorithm driven output.

Will this revitalize our news wires making authoritative digital content more important than relationships with outlets?   We shall see.  Authenticity issues aside, communication professionals are realizing the value of AI when it comes to narrative storytelling, yet often lingering will be the question of who or what is generating this content.

Will the media industry be ready to fully embrace the consequences of this new technology?  It may behoove communicators to acquire new skill sets and take on different roles to more effectively partner with AI-generated opportunities.

What Planetary Lifeguard recommends.

Maintain a thoughtful, critical and questioning mindset, says Planetary Lifeguard, by which to leverage AI’s sweeping capabilities and create more powerful, penetrating and perceptive outcomes than either we humans or the technologies we create could achieve alone, just like electric cars now make us go faster without crippling our environment.

No, President Trump, climate change is no hoax. For the facts, you can consult  PlanetaryLifeguard.org

Also, let us not forget that AI may just be a crutch, albeit an awesome one, to take us further ahead productively as the future of critical thinking may only need AI as a super advanced technological crutch.

So, instead of seeing ourselves as competitors of AI, let us humans see ourselves as acquirers of its capabilities enabling us to ascend to new peaks of wisdom, ethical judgment, contextual perception and deeper understanding.

These are qualities which will only make us humans even more irreplaceable as we pass through and adapt to yet another age, this one the most transcending yet, the age of AI.

Tom Madden is a nervous author concerned that Artificial Intelligence could write rings around him and other human authors.  One of his books WORDSHINE MAN is about how to make writing inviting, which took him six months what AI could probably have done in six minutes. He believes companies like Nvidia and Microsoft need what he’s also good at delivering, publicity, from his public relations firm, TransMedia Group, which he founded when he left NBC.  He’s also the creator of a new type of lifeguard needed today he calls Planetary Lifeguard, Blowing the Whistle on Climate Change, the title of his latest book.
