In Today’s Civil Unrest, Couples Split Saying ‘See ya lago, Mara!’

On September 17, 1862, Generals Robert E. Lee and George McClellan faced off near Antietam creek in Sharpsburg, Maryland in the first and bloodiest battle of the American Civil War to be fought on northern soil.

In a single day there were more than 22,000 casualties, but after a string of Union defeats, McClellan was able to check the Confederate advance into the north providing President Lincoln the political cover he needed to issue his Emancipation Proclamation.

Fast forward 155 years to the culmination of the most hotly contested political battle in American history resulting in an imposing victory of Republicans over Democrats.

The Donald J. Trump inauguration as the 45th President of the United States of America and his subsequent executive order proclamation causes convulsions in the form of nasty, sometimes violent protests, deplorable skirmishes and vehement outcries.  Bitter dissention and acrimony sweep across the country.

What has America learned in 155 years?  Not a hell of a lot, unfortunately as there is a new civil war brewing in America between those who love our new President and those who loathe him.

Then the dissention hits very close to home.  My home!  After a dear friend of ours brings my wife back from one of her pet scans, she has a juicy cellphone interview with GossipExtra from our apartment.  That night a broiling story bubbles across the Internet about her filing for divorce.

The story is awash with compelling evidence that politics is the new form of cancer in our private lives.  That day it claimed another victim, her marriage to a prominent attorney.   The headline screams . . .

EXCLUSIVE — BLAME TRUMP:  Attorney’s Hot Wife Files For Divorce … Cites Politics As Issue In Their Marriage!

The GossipExtra story says our friend’s obvious support for Donald Trump has caused a firestorm among those in her husband’s liberal base, and she complains he has not stood up to those who criticize her!

The news astounds those who know the power couple as they have appeared together at President Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.

Photo of Trump and our friend taken at Mar-a-Lago that she posted on her Facebook page and was published on the web by Gossip Extra ignited her husband’s political entourage, she says. (via Facebook)

“So what, if I like Ivanka Trump or a conservative issue on social media,” she tells GossipExtra. “So what if I invite Melania to be in my book group?  He has been getting calls from supporters, like union people or far left types. One actually told him to ‘keep your woman in line.’”

“Excuse me? Keep your woman in line? I’m my own person. I’ve got a successful business. I’ve got my own opinion. I’m a lifelong Republican,” she’s quoted in the GossipExtra story.

It’s an example of a new phenomenon in America: the Trump Divorce or Trump Breakup when couples split over politics saying the new Sayonara. . .

See ya lago, Mara!

How many casualties in the form of broken marriages and relationships will there be in these new, not so civil wars?
