Funny, how vulnerable our ears are. Especially the left one which is more often in the sunny spotlight when you’re driving a convertible or with your tanned arm sticking out of the driver’s side window.
One of mine has recently gone through a hollowing process, a multi-step surgery to expel what a sample sent to a lab one day indicated what it had appeared to be, a basil cell carcinoma that had to make an exit.
Performing the surgery at the Rendon Center of Dermatology & Aesthetic Medicine in Boca Raton, Mary Michael, DO, did a masterful job excavating the enemy from my endangered left ear.
Now it’s safe and healing nicely thanks to the four scoops of the villain she surgically removed all the way down to even a thin layer of the cartilage just to make perfectly sure she got it all out.
Now, just a wee bit more concave than before, I’m feeling happy as the Pope in Rome as it’s still healing nicely and soon will be good as new.
Yes, I’m basil cell carcinoma free and my mighty brave ear is here to stay and won’t be gone tomorrow.
I’m so grateful to my extraordinarily skillful surgeon, Mary Michael, DO.
To her, fixing my ear was a piece of competent cake. I was happy to send her pictures of my ear as she had asked me to do so she could see how it was healing and whether I needed to continue taking the antibiotic she had proscribed.
I’m scheduled for a follow up visit soon, and I’m thinking of bringing her a cake.
